Did You Know?

*    CTA is affiliated with the 2.4 million-member National Education Association.

*    CTA has over 1,000 chapters or local teachers associations charter as CTA affiliates.

*    CTA has over 300,000 members while its chapters represent in collective bargaining over 320,000 public school teachers and other non-supervisory certificated personnel.

*     CTA chapters represent over half of California's Community College instructors and all 22,000 instructors and professors in the 23-campus California State University System.

*    CTA policies are made and its programs determined by its State Council of Education and Board of Directors.  State Council is made up of nearly 650 delegates elected by members for a three year term.

*    CTA's Board of Directors is a 24-member body representing geographic districts, ethnic minority representatives and a delegate member of the NEA Board.  They serve for three years.

*    CTA's executive officers, Board members, and Council delegates are all employees of local school or community college districts or of the California State University.

*     Barbara Kerr is the president and David Sanchez is the vice-president of CTA.

*    Cathy O'Neil is TAWC's local CTA representative.
